Biogas & Bioenergy
Bioenergy technologies include all processes through which biofuel and biogas are produced. Bio-refineries are designed for production of liquid biofuel from organic raw materials, bagasse and other plants. Biogas derives from anaerobic degradation of organic products such residues and biomass converted in biogas through fermentation process. Biogas is composed by a mixture of methane and CO2 with other trace gases, biogas is refined and purified to biomethane. airprotech supplies emissions control systems for most of the processes in the bioenergy industry.
Regenerative thermal oxidizers RTO are specifically designed to destroy the pollutants from the process gas through thermal oxidation at high temperature.
Recuperative thermal oxidizers with a main combustion chamber for thermal oxidation at high temperature and integrated heat recovery system.
Direct thermal oxidizers destroy the pollutants through thermal oxidation at high temperature, process gas and/or waste organic liquids are directly injected in the combustion chamber.
In the catalytic plants the oxidation of organic substances is carried out with lower temperature using high-performance base-metal and precious-metal catalysts.
FOR UPGRADING BIOGAS
The Post-combustion plants for the treatment of the off gases coming from biogas into the biomethane upgrading process are crucial for the sustainability of the produced biomethane. This technology reduces the methane loss to the atmosphere during the upgrading biogas into biomethane systems. The technology we apply for the treatment of off gas coming from an upgrading system is the Regenerative Thermal Combustion (RTO). Our plants are designed to guarantee methane destruction efficiencies up > 99% and so an increase in % GHG saving. The RTO is designed with a high thermal recovery efficiency of 96%; without involving the consumption of auxiliary fuel, the system is self-maintaining thanks to the combustion of the residual methane itself present in the off gas. Such plants are designed to be able to operate, if necessary, with electrical energy or green fuels too.
Activated carbon is an inert solid adsorbent material used to remove contaminants from process gas streams.
Selective catalytic reduction SCR to eliminate nitrogen oxides NOx through special catalytic elements in combination with injection of ammonia or urea.
Scrubber and washing towers are used mainly for the removal of volatile organic and inorganic compounds which are water-soluble and using chemical reagents.
WET AND DRY
Filtration, dedusting and separation of dust and solid particles from process gas can be performed through wet and dry solution depending on the specific application.
Gas flaring is the process of destroying through combustion the waste gases that cannot be processed. airprotech offers a comprehensive selection of flares for several applications.
